Vincent Jackson Update

NFL.com reported yesterday that San Diego Chargers holdout wide receiver Vincent Jackson would be able to have his suspension reduced if he were traded before next Wednesday. However, the Chargers have to accept the terms of the trade agreement for this to pan out. So far, there's been interest from the Seahawks, Vikings, Rams and Redskins for Jackson.

Of all these teams, I'd like to see the Vikings pull the trigger on a trade for the star wideout, as they've lacked a true number one receiver since the days of Randy Moss and Cris Carter. Sidney Rice looked like he was getting there last season, but his current standing on the Physically Unable to Perform list sidelines him until the seventh game of the season. Getting a contract extension worked out for Jackson would put the Vikings in good shape for a few seasons, with this likely being Favre's last season, and Tavaris Jackson needing a solid receiver to help his future growth.

The Chargers will likely make a statement this afternoon regarding their position on trading Jackson, and until then, we'll just have to speculate as to the next installment of this ongoing battle of wills.
